About the artist

Brittney MacKenzie is an American contemporary artist. A New York-based designer, repositioned again to painter in 2021, after the realization that her path within the last decade has lead her full circle back to painting and drawing. Her repertoire of artwork is a combination of mediums, including oil, watercolor, graphite, charcoal, and digital illustrations. Poetry usually accompanies works in oil, adding to the perception of her subjects. Influenced by impressionism and renaissance masters, these traditions of the past are juxtaposed alongside the modern digital, design and textiles. MacKenzie is increasingly interested in the illusion of reality and the discerned perspective of nature. She received a formal fine arts education in Hartford, CT, where she studied figure painting and le plein air under Stephen Brown, and realism drawing under Fred Wessel. MacKenzie currently lives and works in Rockland, New York.
